Statistics Department
INTRODUCTION
The Statistical Department is established at MMDAs as per second schedule of the Local Government Act 2016 (Act 936). Statistics has long been appreciated as an essential and useful tool for planning and management of scarce and material resources of every nation. Hence through Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and National Statistical System (NSS), the integration of mainstream statistics in the work of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies ( MMDAS).

MISSION
To harness produce and manage quality local level statistics based on national standards using competent staff for evidence-based decision making in support of local and national development
GENERAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To collect, compile, store, analyse data based on standardized formats developed by Ghana Statistical Services.
- Systematize the collation of administrative data across sectors and geographical units
- Generate the data requirements of the District Assemblies on all departments for planning activities of the MMDA
- Coordinate district statistical activities and archiving of statistics to serve as a repository of statistical data in the district.
- Provide timely data for incorporation into district, regional and national level statistical analyses.
- Provide inputs for the preparation of the District Assemblies Budget
- Monitor statistical enquiries/surveys within the MMDA
- Advise the District Assemblies on all matters relating to statistics
- Assist the MMDA to mobilize revenue for development.
