DONATION OF ITEMS TO PEOPLE WITH DISSABILITY (PWD)

The Disability Fund Disbursement (DFD) is a means for supporting Persons with Disability (PWD) via the income generating activities as a means of economic empowerment; the provision of educational support for children, students and trainees with disability; building the capacity of organizations of persons with disability in the District to enable them advocate and assert their rights and undertaken awareness creation and sensitization on disability issues, supporting PWDs to have access to technical aids and other assistive devices and equipment.

The Fanteakwa North District Assembly (FNDA) has supported over three hundred (300) Persons with Disability in the past. On Thursday, 27th November, 2025, the Fanteakwa North District Assembly organized a Disability Fund Disbursement to support Persons with Disability in the District. The Disability Fund Disbursement was held at the forecourt of the District Assembly premises at 10am prompt. A total number of sixty-seven (67) PWDs were supported in the areas of retooling items or equipment, health, education and petty trading as recommended by members of the Disability Fund Management Committee (DFMC). The Disbursement exercise comprised of supports for thirty-nine (39) PWDs via retooling items, six (6) PWDs via health support, six (6) PWDs via educational support and sixteen (16) PWDs via petty trading. Again, the Salvation Rehabilitation Centre at Bontrase in Begoro was also supported financially to cater for the special needs children at the centre.

The event was graced with the presence of the District Chief Executive of Fanteakwa North District Assembly, Hon. Osumanu Abubakar, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Daniel Tetteh, the Deputy District Coordinating Director, Mr. Sufyan Abubakar Sadique, the Presiding Member, Hon. Kingsley Ofori-Agyarko Brandford, Heads of Departments, Representatives from the Begoro Traditional Council, Nana Baffour Owiredu Agyarko Mintah and Nana Baffour Ampomah, some selected Honourable Assembly Members of the PWD beneficiaries, the vice chairman of the Local Council of Church, Apostle Kwasi Sakyi, the Secretary of the Muslim Council, Mallam Idrissu, members of the Disability Fund Management Committee, some executives of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled and staff of the Fanteakwa North District Assembly.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Osumanu Abubakar gave a short speech encouraging all PWD beneficiaries to put the items into good use, so that they serve as investments for their future. He again, said that the Assembly is looking forward to increase the number of PWD beneficiaries in the subsequent disbursement exercise subject to availability of funds. He further concluded his remarks saying that the Assembly will create opportunities, support skill development and also spearhead policies that uphold the rights and welfare of Persons with disability.

All PWD beneficiaries were presented with retooling items and cheques for both health and educational support. The items that were presented were fufu grinding machines, cassava grinding machines, deep freezers, sewing machines, cocoa spraying machine, baking oven and its accessories, water pumping machine, popcorn machine, bags of maize and charcoal and boxes of Obolo soap.

The programme ended successfully with PWD beneficiaries expressing their profound gratitude for the various kinds of support they received.
